Choose the Right Domain Name

Choosing the right domain name can get you into a right pickle, you want to get the top domain name, one that everyone of your customers are going to remember. Choosing one can be a daunting task, but don't sweat over it. Just follow the basic rules and you should be Ok. So anyways what is a domain name and where do i get one from. Well it is basically a name that identifies or represents ONE OR MORE IP addresses.

An example of a name is articlebase.com are used in URLs (Uniform Resource Locater) to navigate to particular web pages. So where can i get a domain name from, well there are numerous places, if you are looking for low cost domain names, do a search in Google, or try 1and1 they usually offer good cheap low cost ones. But for me I would go to go daddy as they are the best domain name service around. Simply because go daddy's domain name web hosting services for me are the best out there, easy to use and for myself, I never have had a problem with them. So you want to register with them. Remember, if for some reason you are not happy with your hosting provider, you can always get a domain name transfer to another provider

Ok here's my top tips.

Make sure you can get a .com, while .org and .net are Ok if your building a website for the long run and want it to be successful a .com is crucial. This is because when people search for a brand or something they remember online, they tend to type .com whilst searching. My next tip would be to keep your name as short as you can, I've made that mistake with my domain name which you will see in the authors box, my name is pretty long, but I'm building on it. Why keep it short, well its easier for people to remember, and if you have a business card it will look much better and it will actually fit.

Avoid Copyright Infringement
This is a mistake that isn't made wayyyy too often. To be sure you're not infringing on anyone's copyright with your site's name, visit copyright.gov and search before you buy, this is something in which you do not want to do, especially if it is a well known company and a big name brand.
