4 Tips to Help You Choose a Proper Domain Name for Your Online Business

Choosing the right domain name is a very important decision-making process and one that you should not overlook. Many people make the mistake of choosing a domain name without giving much thought to what it means for your online business. Once you choose your domain name there is no way to change it to something else. Here are four essential tips you should remember when selecting the proper domain name for your online business.

As important as it sounds you still do not need to overthink this decision process. Use the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method when selecting the domain name of your online business. If you selected a domain name that is too technical or hard to remember then it is not going to perform its function correctly. You want it to be simple because you want your visitors to remember the name of it.

The most important thing to remember is that you should include your main keywords in your URL. If you can buy the domain name that has nothing but your main keywords that would be your first choice. An exact domain name match with keywords will give you a huge boost in rankings for those keywords. You should also try to make it the exact same as the title of your website. This will also ensure that your visitors remember the domain name and will be able to find your website much easier.

Third, only buy a domain name using.com,.org, or.net extensions. In my experience and for some reason these extensions are viewed more positive than any of the others. I mean this in regards of your customers as well as the search engines. Google for some reason does not respect.biz or.info websites as highly as the above mentioned extensions.

If at all possible you also want to make sure that you refrain from using hyphens and odd characters in your URL. Your potential customers are not going to remember hyphens and other weird characters in your URL when they type it in the address bar. Therefore it is important to stay away from using them.

Those are the four main tips you should remember when selecting your website's domain name. If the exact match domain for your keywords is not available you can always add a word on to the end of it and have it still be effective. Again, don't over think it as the domain name is only a small part of succeeding with an online business.
